“There is no pine larger than the sugar pine.” - Grand Pappy
And oh, how right he was! Able to grow over 270 ft (83 m) tall with diameters over 10 ft (3 m), sugar pine a superlatively large tree. The cones are superlative in their own right, nearing lengths of 20 in (50 cm), the longest of any conifer. You can find them in the southern Cascade and Sierra Nevada mountains of the west coast of North America.
