Big Cone Douglas-Fir

$2.50

The big cone Douglas-fir is only big in its cone. As North American Douglas-firs go, this inhabitant of the mountains of southern California grows only to about 80 feet in mixed conifer forests with Coulter pine and limber pine. The titular “big cone” can grow up to 5 inches long, dwarfing the cone of its taller cousin, the common Douglas-fir (P. menziesii).
